UniChem Wins National Obesity Forum Best Practice Award for Excellence in Weight Management
UniChem Professional Services is delighted to announce that
it has won the Primary Care Award for Excellence in Weight Management
category, at the recent National Obesity Forum Best Practice Awards for
Excellence in Weight Management 2007. The Professional Services
team won the prestigious award for their facilitation of the recent obesity
management programme conducted with ten pharmacies in the Coventry area, in
association with Coventry Teaching Primary Care Trust.
The NOF presented the UniChem Professional Services team with the award after
its involvement in the Coventry project demonstrated a strong commitment to the
fight against obesity, as well as establishing core relationships with other
healthcare stakeholders including Primary Care Organisations and the Department
of Health. The project was also commended for making effective use of available
resources, in order to maximise the benefits of weight management and reduce
the risk factors associated with obesity.
This accolade follows the continued achievements of the pilot project, which
commenced in January this year and has already generated award success for one
of the pharmacies involved. Monarch Pharmacy in Coventry was recently awarded
the Pharmacy Business Innovation Award 2007 for its involvement in the
pioneering project.
Commenting on the award Mandeep Mudhar, Head of Commercial Services at UniChem
said: “We are thrilled to have won an award for our involvement in what was a
truly ground breaking project. The Coventry obesity management pilot has
brought together a variety of stakeholders across the healthcare sector, and
through its facilitation by UniChem Professional Services, has resulted in a
pharmacy-led service that is changing people’s lives.”
