UniChem Tells Delegates “You’re Stronger With Us”

Jeremy Main, UniChem’s Sales & Marketing Director today demonstrated to delegates at the wholesaler’s annual Convention in Barbados how UniChem’s position within the rapidly expanding pan-European, Alliance Boots organisation is reaping benefits for its independent customers.

In his opening address Jeremy told pharmacists: “Love Boots or hate them, I’m sure most of you will agree that there are aspects of their business which you envy. As you know we have always worked very closely with Alliance Pharmacy to share knowledge and best practice. Now UniChem has a much larger pool of expertise and knowledge available. The wholesale – retail link has been widened and expanded giving substantially improved strength and depth.”

Jeremy demonstrated how UniChem has been working, since the high-profile merger last July, to fulfil its five post-merger pledges to its customers:

• Ensuring that UniChem remains unchanged
• Retaining its unwavering commitment and focus on the independent sector
• Leveraging the strength of the new group, to the benefit of its customers
• Participating in the pan-European approach to wholesale and learning from best practice in Europe
• Fully retaining its autonomy and independence

He outlined UniChem’s latest array of offerings spanning, retail, professional and business-focused support, all of which, he asserts, have been developed as a result of “shared synergies within Alliance Boots”.

The list includes: yourportfolio2, monthly counter line promotions, a pre-reg training programme, MUR accreditation workshops, a unique MUR Toolkit, facilitation of PCT-commissioned healthcare services, plus the your counter assistant training programme, Alliance Boots government lobbying activity, the Alvita surgical, diagnostic, health and hygiene range, Almus OTC (due to launch in October), and the planned roll out of the Alliance Boots Virtual Chain, Alphega Pharmacy into the UK.

In conclusion, he told delegates: “And this we believe is only the beginning. Over the coming months and years we will aim to continue to support all of you with a wide range of products and services that draw on the strengths and depth of our business which will make you all ‘Stronger With Us’.”
