Pharmacy Can Benefit from Supply Chain Relationships Mark Stephenson

Mark Stephenson, UniChem’s Supplier Relations Director, today outlined the potential benefits for the Pharmacy profession which can be achieved through increasing its engagement with stakeholders across the supply chain. Addressing delegates at this week’s UniChem Convention in Barbados, Mark outlined how UniChem is seeking to engage with pharmaceutical suppliers and manufacturers, for the benefit of its independent customers, and how both pharmacy and manufacturers can work in closer partnership.

In his opening address Mark told delegates: “I think it is very obvious that the world of pharmacy is changing, and probably quicker than any of us could have imagined… UniChem has decided to move with the change and I would encourage more organisations, trade bodies and individuals to do the same.”

He continued by demonstrating that through better engagement with suppliers, UniChem has strengthened its position, to enable it to provide specific offerings to help pharmacists respond to the “changing face of pharmacy”. He detailed a range of category and professional service solutions which have been designed to engage all stakeholders across the value chain and enable pharmacists to maximise the opportunities that are available to them. He highlighted the successful Coventry PCT Obesity Management project, facilitated by UniChem Professional Services and supported by a range of new industry partners including a number of manufacturers and suppliers.

In conclusion, Mark told delegates: “We want to encourage and drive more interaction within the supply chain… Our dedicated team is driving this interaction and has great pharmacy knowledge… There are many challenges but we can adapt. Pharmacy has to be at the centre of these changes and UniChem is committed to providing the best support to Pharmacy and manufacturers.”
