‘Stronger With Us’ - UniChem Convention 2007

The 2007 UniChem Convention has commenced on the beautiful Caribbean island of Barbados. The theme for the 2007 business programme is ‘Stronger With Us’, which ties in with the strapline of UniChem’s recent marketing campaign. This theme has been developed to encompass key content relating to the need to build successful business partnerships between healthcare professionals and stakeholders.

The wide-ranging business programme has been developed to provide interactive and lively debate on some of the key issues within the pharmacy profession, including remuneration, patient safety, IT/EPS and distribution changes. The programme also looks at some of the most notable achievements by pharmacists in areas of the profession including; extended services, MURs and independent prescribing.

The business programme will also be attended by representatives from Boots the Chemists, who will present some of the pharmacy projects that the business has undertaken in recent months. They will also discuss with delegates how the independent sector and Boots can potentially work in closer partnership for the wider benefit of pharmacy.

In his introductory speech to delegates Mike Smith, UniChem Chairman said: “Pharmacy has changed in the last two years at a rate unknown in my 40 years as a pharmacist, and of course UniChem has also needed to change. The business is now stronger than ever before and now, more than ever we are all one family. Your views are the most important in this room.”
