your MUR toolkit: Giving Pharmacists The Tools To
Maximise Their MUR Earning Potential
UniChem has announced the launch of its latest wave of MUR
support for independent community pharmacy. your MUR toolkit is
designed to assist MUR accredited pharmacists in recruiting patients and
increasing the number of MURs conducted within the pharmacy.
your MUR toolkit encompasses a variety of materials and support
that allows pharmacy support teams to assist pharmacists in driving the demand
for MURs. Pharmacy support staff are encouraged to engage with patients,
thereby reducing the burden on the pharmacist to encourage MUR uptake and
allowing them to focus more closely on carrying out MURs. Within the MUR
toolkit there are a number of key components which pharmacy teams can use to
drive MUR uptake. These include:
-
Pharmacy wall progress chart – indicating targets and totals for MUR income.
The chart aims to track performance and keep the focus within the team. It also
contains a number of top tips for increasing MUR uptake.
-
Patient question card - patients can complete a question card around their
medicines usage as they wait for their medication. The pharmacy team can then
evaluate whether this patient is eligible for a MUR based on their responses
and refer them to the pharmacist for a MUR if appropriate.
-
Staff leaflets – simplifying what a MUR is. This is an educational tool to help
train the team in a straightforward, uncomplicated manner around the reasons
for carrying out a MUR.
-
Patient Posters - to be displayed within the healthcare area to drive awareness
of the MUR facility to patients.
-
CD-Rom – containing two short videos for the pharmacy teams and the pharmacist.
The CD-Rom explains the processes involved in a MUR and is based on other
healthcare professionals’ testimonials and experiences.
-
There are a variety of other tools including badges and reminder cards for
pharmacists, to help them remain focused on MUR goals.
The MUR toolkit incorporates core concepts which have been tried and tested
within Alliance Boots and was developed using consumer and pharmacy staff
feedback. Sanjay Pathak, Commercial Services Manager, comments: “We have
already received excellent feedback from the UniChem Customer Forums on some of
the key concepts around the MUR toolkit which is very encouraging. The tried
and tested methods have already delivered some excellent results within
Alliance Boots and we hope that the UniChem offering will now encourage
independent pharmacists to further engage in the MUR process.”
your MUR toolkit is available to UniChem customers at a price
of £49.50 (equivalent to the income from carrying out two MURs in England). For
more information please contact UniChem on 0208 974 4040 (option 4).
