UniChem Statement Regarding Success of Pfizer Direct
to Pharmacy Distribution
As Pfizer’s Direct to Pharmacy (DTP) model enters its fifth
week, UniChem is delighted to report that over 98% of the dispensing market has
now signed up to order and receive Pfizer prescription medicines through
UniChem.
UniChem is also pleased to report excellent service levels on Pfizer
prescription medicines, in excess of 99%.
As Pfizer’s appointed logistics service provider, UniChem is responsible for the
order taking and delivery of Pfizer prescription medicines to all pharmacists,
hospitals and dispensing doctors across the UK. It has been activating a
significant number of Pfizer-only accounts in the weeks following the launch
and believes that every dispensing point in the UK will have opened an account
in the coming weeks.
David Griffiths, Operations Director comments: “We are delighted with the
progress made so far. In preparation for the launch, we up-scaled our operation
to enable us to serve 9,500 new customers. A significant amount of hard work
has been put in by employees across the business to ensure that we can maintain
this excellent level of service as the demand for Pfizer medicines under DTP
increases.
“We continue to resolve a small number of specific customer issues at a local
level and to monitor the arrangements in order to make additional improvements
wherever possible. We have already started to receive some very positive
feedback from customers regarding the service we are providing and we remain
absolutely committed to demonstrating our capabilities under these new
arrangements.”
